Betty Jane (McGinnis) Stump, 94 of Union City, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, December 19, 2020.  She was born in Winamac, IN, on January 15, 1926, to Milo and Nettie McGinnis.

Betty graduated from Mississinewa Valley High School in Union City. Her greatest love was her family with whom she shared her love, compassion and caring attitude.  Betty enjoyed gardening with her flowers as well as family boating and camping.  She was a member of Winchester Church of Christ and had worked at Martin Jewelers in Greenville.

Betty leaves to cherish her memories, a son, Jim (Carol) Stump of Greenwood; two daughters, Jane Smith of Winchester and Debbie (Charlie) Bennett of Union City; 7 grandchildren, Jim F. (Natalie) Hoffman, Chrissy (Jeff) Berry, Candi (Josh) Clouse, Mike (LeAnn) Bennett, Brent (Becky) Smith, Tyler (LaChelle) Smith, and Brian (Erica) Smith; 18 great grandchildren, Erika (Lucas) St Laurent, Logan Melton, Devin Loudy, Makenzi Berry, Jordan (Katlynn) Smith, Levi and Lydia Clouse, Jordon, Levi, and Hunter Bennett, Alex, Lindsay, and Austin Smith, Amanda, Jared, and Katie Smith, and Brianna and Joselyn Smith; and 3  great great granddaughters, Kendra Hathaway, Charlotte Smith, and Zaylee Melton; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 76 years, Jim Stump; her parents; a sister, Judy Seman; and a son-in-law, Stu Smith.

The family will have a private graveside service with Pastor Bob Moorman officiating.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to “Chrissy Berry FBO Devin Loudy Brain Cancer Fund”, Betty’s great grandson (C/O Old National Bank, 100 S. Meridian St., Winchester, IN 47394) and/or to Cancer Services of Randolph County (133 N. Meridian St., Winchester, IN 47394) for the support provided to her Granddaughter, Candi Clouse, during her recent successful fight with breast cancer.

The family sends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Syme and staff, to State of the Heart Hospice and their staff for their kindness and care they gave to Betty, and our gratitude to Pastor Moorman and Betty’s church family and to all of our friends, for all of their love and support.
