Robert (Bob) Pugh Obituary

Robert (Bob) Pugh, 98, passed away on Monday, April, 15, 2024, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Winchester.  He was born on March 23, 1926, in Modoc, Indiana to Lawrence and Erma (Veal) Pugh. 

Bob was a 1944 graduate of Modoc High School.  After graduation he joined the US Navy.  He was a veteran of WW2 and served on the USS Stentor.  After he returned from service he worked in heavy construction for 65 years.  He was superintendent for Debolt Concrete, Inc. in Richmond for 20 years.  He owned and operated the Dari Bucket in Modoc with his former wife, Marabelle in the late 60’s.  He also owned and operated Eastern Indiana Asphalt and Bob’s Asphalt.  He worked as an estimator for Culy Construction and Dirt Works for several years.  He retired in 2010 when his macular degeneration worsened.

Bob was a member of Countryside Christian Church, Winchester.  Bob served as the master of the Losantville Masonic Lodge FM674 and later transferred to Winchester Lodge No. 56.  He is a past member of the Scottish Rite and Shrine Club of Ft. Wayne for 30 years.  He was a member of the Moose Lodge No1977 and served as past governor.  He was also a member of the American Legion and Phi Delta Kappa.

Bob was a Colts and IU fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR until his macular degeneration made it hard to watch TV.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling and spending the winter months in Florida. 

Bob is survived by his daughters, Jayne (Dick) Kern, Cindy Howell, Debbie (Dave) Byrd, and Brenda Fetty; son, Scott (Diana) Dull; grandchildren, Joanna Jenkins, Kristin (Zach) McCaslin, Cody (Janelle) Dull, and Jaxon Fetty; great grandchildren, Connor Shockley, Charity Jenkins, Jaylen Jenkins, Karley McCaslin, Zara McCaslin, Ezra Dull, and Liam Dull; and his brother-in-law, Doug Edwards.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife, Karen (Edwards) Pugh, whom he married on December 1, 1973, his parents, Lawrence and Erma Pugh; sisters, Mildred (Richard) Gibbs and Doris (Arthur) Catey; and infant sister, Elizabeth Pugh.

A celebration of Bob’s life will be will begin at 1:00 p.m., with Phi Delta Kappa Funeral Ritual, on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Rev. Melissa Kleinschmidt officiating.  Burial will follow with Military Rites at Fountain Park Cemetery in Winchester.
