Donald (Don) Eugene Lovell, 84, passed away March 25, 2024 after a brief, yet fierce battle with cancer. Don was born June 26, 1939. He resided in Randolph County his entire life and was very proud of his heritage. He was born in Winchester, the third child and second son to Bert and Helen Pierson Lovell.
Don attended local schools and graduated from McKinley High School in 1957. He retired from General Motors in Muncie after 30 years of service. Don was an accomplished musician, woodworker and story teller extraordinaire. Don valued his many friendships, some which began as early as kindergarten. Anyone fortunate enough to have known him, knows he was never short on words or friends.
On October 16, 1959 he married Edna Katleen (Kathy) Garrett who became the mother of his children and wife of nearly 65 years. Don's worth is immeasurable in terms of his steadfast love, dedication and his amazing ability to care for the love of his life.
Don is survived by his wife, Kathy Lovell, daughter, Vickie (John) Phistner, Winchester, IN, his son, Dale Lovell, Parker City, IN and daughter-in-law, Connie Lovell, Muncie, IN. His grandchildren, Gayle Phistner, Daxton Lovell, Chanz'ee Lovell and Lilli (Grant) Phistner Mitchener. His great-grandchildren, Demi Lovell, Dade Lovell, Cash Richards and Cece Richards. His beloved sister, Barbara (Paul) Martin, Hobe Sound, FL and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jack (Marita) Lovell, Angola, IN and a sister Betty (Frank) Hinn, South Bend, IN.
Services will be held April 27, 2024, with visitation from 1-3 and the service immediately following with Steve McCoy officiating, all at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester.
Memorials may be given in his honor to the charity of choice.
A celebration of life will take place on May 4, 2024 from 5-7 at the Farmland Cultural Center.
