Clyde Howard Thompson, 85, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 3, 2018, after an extended illness.  He was at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Olive Hill, KY, on January 21, 1933, to Fred and Idyle (Logan) Thompson.

Clyde was a tool and die maker at Sheller-Globe in Union City, IN, where he retired from in 1991 after more than 40 years.  Some of his hobbies included trap shooting, fishing, gardening, playing the banjo, and spending time with his family.  He enjoyed his grandsons sporting events.  In more recent years, he really enjoyed spending time with his only great grandchild, Landon.

Clyde is survived by his wife of 65 years, Madge (Glover) Thompson; a son, Terry (wife, Sherri) Thompson of Winchester; two grandsons, Justin (fiancée Stacy Hemmelgarn) Thompson of Winchester and Christopher (wife, Amy) Thompson of Winchester; a great grandson, Landon Thompson of Winchester; a brother, Hubert (wife, Gloria) Thompson of Wilkinson, IN; a sister, Justine (husband, James) Thompson of Shiloh, OH; and many nieces and nephews. 

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Bertha Swartz; and four brothers and two sisters.

A celebration of Clyde’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m., on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at the Walker Funeral Home in Winchester, with Pastor Jeff Bullard officiating.  Burial will follow at the Fountain Park Cemetery.

Friends and family may call from 1-3 p.m., on Saturday, at the funeral home.  Memorials can be made to Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, with envelopes available at the funeral home.

To Madge, Terry and family: We are so sorry for the loss of Clyde. Words can't describe how well you took care of Clyde. He will be missed by all of his family. Keep his memories close to your heart and he will always be near. We love you all very much!
