Dennis R. Simmons, 72, of Winchester, passed away at his home, on Saturday, February 3, 2018.  He was born on July 22, 1945, in Tucker County, West Virginia, to Elmer Simmons and Helen L. (Wilt) Wheeler. 

Dennis retired from the US Army Indiana National Guard.  He also retired from the Union City Body Company.  Dennis was a member of the Phi Delta Kappa Fraternity, Winchester Moose Lodge 1977, Union City American Legion, and the Union City VFW.  He enjoyed fishing and watching sports.

Dennis is survived by his son, Shane Simmons of Winchester; two daughters, Dena (Dave) Reno and Angie (Todd) Hummel of Winchester; a brother, Jim (Angie) Simmons of Winchester; a sister, Shirley (Tom) Ashley of Richmond; three grandchildren, Ashlee Norton, Mason Hummel, and Megan Simmons; and four great grandchildren, Aiden, Symen, Odin, and Paisley; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Mike Simmons and Richard “Rick” Simmons.

A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m., on Friday, February 9, 2018, at the Phi Delta Kappa Chapter House, 825 N. Residence St, Winchester, with Pastor Jeff Straley officiating, with Military Services will be conducted at 5:00 p.m., and a celebration of Dennis’ life following the Military Services.

Dennis's family, So sorry to hear about Dennis. I worked with him at UCBC. God bless your family at this difficult time in your lives. RIP my friend.
